United Way of South Central Illinois Launches Annual “Stuff the Bus” Program to Support Jefferson County Area Schools

United Way of South Central Illinois is proud to announce the launch of its annual “Stuff the Bus” program, aimed at collecting essential school supplies for students in Jefferson County Area Schools. The collection drive will take place from August 1st to August 15th, 2023.

The “Stuff the Bus” initiative seeks to ensure that every student has the necessary tools to succeed in the upcoming school year. United Way is calling on local businesses and organizations to support this effort by hosting a collection box at their location.

“We are thrilled to kick off this year’s Stuff the Bus program and are grateful for the support of our community,” said Nat Shook, United Way of South Central Illinois. “By coming together, we can make a significant impact on the educational success of our local students.”

Several community partners have already committed to hosting collection boxes, including:
- Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon
- Mt. Vernon Innovation Hub
- Ringside Buffet
- Byrd Watson
- Nature Trail Nursing Home
- Mt. Vernon Outland Airport
-Dollar General - 421 Broadway
-Dollar General - 2629 Broadway
-Southwest Christian Church
-King City Games
-First United Methodist Church
-Tri-County Electric Cooperative

These locations will serve as drop-off points where community members can contribute school supplies listed on the attached flyer.
