Spero is a multi-faceted social service agency that offers more than 10 programs to individuals, children, and families across the region. Our mission here at Spero is to offer hope, help and healing by providing Christ-centered human services to meet the ever-changing needs of individuals, families and communities.

Our YouthBuild Program is free program for low-income, young adults in need of a certificate of High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) who are between the ages of 16 and 24 years old. YouthBuild integrates work experience with education, occupational skills development in construction and other career pathways, support services, leadership development, and alumni success.

As a Job Developer you will provide direct instruction and support to clients in the classroom and on-site to facilitate successful employment. This position will also develop relationships with area employers to connect clients to potential employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Relations: Assist in representing the agency and build and maintain strong partnerships with employers in the area to connect clients with employment opportunities. Maintain communication with employers to ensure programming goals align with the needs of employers. Ensure collaboration and strong communication with community partners.
  • Service Delivery: Provide classroom and on-site skills training to clients as it relates to job search and employment. Duties include development and implementation of trainings, visiting work sites, and promoting career development. Maintain communication with all participants after graduation, as specified by the program, to continue providing supportive services that assist them in working toward education and/or employment as necessary.
  • Data Reporting: Responsible for the collection and tracking of participant data. Ensure progress toward individual goals and successful completion of any required certifications. Maintain data collection and tracking for participants toward their goals and ensure students successfully complete the WIN certification.
  • Documentation: Ensure all documentation and reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Other: Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Requirements: Must have an Associate’s Degree in a related field, valid IL driver’s license, and be at least 21 years old. Bachelor’s degree in a related field, previous experience, and experience working with teenage youth in a classroom preferred.

Skills: Must be organized, able to multi-task, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic computer skills, and detail oriented. Must be able to interact with, and relate to, diverse groups of people. Must be able to learn and utilize required curriculum(s) and the work readiness system(s).

Miscellaneous: Must pass all pre-employment drug screens and background clearances. Must maintain driving clearances.
