Spero is a multi-faceted social service agency that offers more than 10 programs to individuals, children, and families across the region. Our mission here at Spero is to offer hope, help and healing by providing Christ-centered human services to meet the ever-changing needs of individuals, families and communities.

Our Foster Care Program provides homes in Southern Illinois for children ages birth to 21. Our program also provides ongoing training and support to foster parents, who are an integral part of each child’s treatment team. As the Foster Care Case Worker Supervisor, you will oversee the all case work services and case work staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Management: Supervise the casework services. Ensure compliance with funding performance requirements and accreditation standards. Duties may include:

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the quality of services offered
  • Implement and maintain established internal/external program policies and procedures
  • Determine case assignments for staff
  • Monitor the quality and quantity of case work services provided
  • Ensure all documentation and reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner
  • Oversee internal file reviews
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives with the support of the PQI department
  • Attend DCFS monitoring meetings

Personnel Management: Provide direct supervision of staff as assigned. Duties may include recruiting, hiring, training, performance reviews, and providing corrective action plans when necessary.

Other: Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Requirements: Must have a Master’s degree in Social Work or related field, valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass all examinations related to the licensing/approval of foster families. Previous experience in Foster Care and previous supervisory experience preferred.

Skills: Must be organized, able to multi-task, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic computer skills, and detail oriented. Must be able to interact with, and relate to, diverse groups of people. Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills and have the ability to recognize and report issues or concerns pertaining to program operations.

Miscellaneous: Must pass all pre-employment drug screens and background clearances. Must have the ability to physically transport items weighing 15-30 lbs. (files). Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours to meet the needs of the program.
