Spero Family Services is looking for a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a Workforce Development Coordinator for our Residential Treatment Programs. In this role, you will play a key part in hiring, training, and supporting staff who are responsible for services to the youth in these programs. Your work will ensure that our team is well-equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to empower youth in their journey toward healing, growth, and success.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruiting and Hiring: Recruit and hire qualified applicants for Residential Treatment positions as assigned.

  • Assist HR in recruiting efforts
  • Screen and Interview applicants
  • Assign new hires to appropriate teams (homes and shifts)

Orientation and Training: Ensure all new assigned staff receive training and support during their first 90 days to be successful in their new role. Model and support a positive and welcoming environment for all new staff.

  • Orientation – as part of the initial two-week training, ensure orientation to the service delivery model, client outcome goals and Spero culture
  • Training – as part of the initial two-week training, and prior to ratio assignment, ensure new hires are trained according to the Residential Training Checklist. This may be a combination of coordination and hands-on delivery of training.
  • Support – provide on-going mentoring, support and follow-up training throughout the first 90 days of employment.
  • Model and assist staff in utilizing CARE/Trauma Informed principles
  • Collaborate with Home Coordinators as they on-board new Youth Counselors into their teams. Provide mentoring and support to Home Coordinators when necessary
  • Contribute to the 30, 60, and 90 day new employee evaluations

Other:

  • Be a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Trainer
  • Participate in TCI/CARE post crisis review
  • Assist in de-escalation of clients
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 25 years old. Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license and previous experience in 24/7 care.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field or MHP qualified and 2 years experience in 24/7 care

Skills: Must be organized, able to multi-task, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic computer skills, and detail oriented. Must be able to interact with, and relate to, diverse groups of people. Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills and have the ability to recognize and report issues or concerns pertaining to program operations. Must have the strength/mobility needed to perform Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.

Miscellaneous: Must pass all pre-employment drug screens and background clearances. Must maintain driving clearances.

Program Population: The youth in this program have a complexity of mental health issues/disorders. The intensity of these mental health issues warrants placement in a highly structured, supervised and safe therapeutic environment. The focus of the program is to provide crisis stabilization/management, behavioral management, and clinical treatment in effort to reduce the mental health disturbance and assist the youth in returning to a less restrictive setting. Due to the severity of youth’s mental health issues in their program the use of physical restraints and/or seclusion are necessary at time.
